Pandemic Pregnancy // Doula Tips ↓ ↓ ↓
-
Birthing during a pandemic, just thought I’d share some helpful tips to consider during this time.
-
✨ PROVIDER + PLACE OF BIRTH! This is equally important even if there wasn’t a pandemic of course but even more now more than ever. Finding a provider who supports a natural birth ( not unmedicated, I mean someone who honors the flow of letting birth happen ) doing so decreases the chances of interventions when not medically necessary. I always suggest choosing a midwife if possible, ( I’ll be listing some midwife benefits in my stories today ) Find a hospital that is allowing partner + doula! Unfortunately during this time doulas have been limited when supporting there clients in a hospital setting. Again, this would be a benefit of a midwife. Birth centers and homebirths dont have restrictions like hospital settings do at the moment.
-
✨ HIRE A DOULA! Doulas support you doing your pregnancy by providing resources, tips, education, birth plans, preparing partner, addressing fears and concerns. When birth happens, we utilize our knowledge by providing you with evidence based information when a provider or nurse suggests something in regards to your care, positioning ( even with an epidural, we pull out all the tricks to make sure baby is able to rotate through the pelvis ) as well as providing comfort, a women in labor should look like a goddess. . we are massaging, nourishing, holding, encouraging you along the way. Continuous support from a doula decreases the chance of pain medications, interventions and cesareans. Which leads to overall better birth satisfaction!
-
✨ LABOR AT HOME! ( better yet, birth at home ) no but seriously laboring at home until active labor is a great way to labor. Why? well for one your in the comfort of your home and neighborhood. Instead of walking halls, walk your neighborhood! Instead of leaning on a hospital bed, lean on that comfy couch of yours, or your bed etc. . but overall laboring at home can help avoid a lot of exposure in the hospital setting. Getting to the hospital just prior to birthing your baby me
