Rachael discovered a heart for breastfeeding support after encountering some unexpected surprises in the early days of her own breastfeeding experience. After having a natural birth with the support of a doula, she found herself reaching out for some help in establishing a strong breastfeeding relationship with her baby boy. During this time, Rachael realized that she had a deep desire to help other mothers have their personal breastfeeding experience and feel confident that they have given their very best for the babies. She attended CLC training and achieved certification through the Healthy Children Project, and is excited for the opportunity to support and encourage other families on the breastfeeding journey.

Emily has been an L&D nurse in Jacksonville since 2012.  While pregnant, Emily had plans to deliver in a birthing center with a midwife, however her baby was breech and required a hospital birth. She was able to deliver vaginally and naturally with the loving support of her doula and midwife. Women need the support at all points of their pregnancies, and she hopes to be that support for many women as they work to achieve their perfect birth. In addition to nursing and birth doula work, Emily is also an aspiring midwife and hopes to attend Georgetown University.

Christy is a Navy spouse and mother to three children.  Having experienced doulas at all her births, Christy knew the support she received was so beneficial and, in turn, felt called to return the sentiment.  Her most recent pregnancy and birth occurred while her husband was deployed!  Naturally, she only wanted her husband in the room, but the kind face and comforting hands of a doula softened what was indeed a difficult time.  The experience was truly memorable, so Christy wanted to do the same for other families.

Birth doula

Meredith has always known her birth story. Her mother had her at home, and Meredith grew up believing birth is a natural process. When her sister gave birth to her first nephew she got to witness laboring at home and a transfer and eventual hospital birth and began to understand how a doula can truly affect the experience. She trained to become a doula herself and is excited to provide support to women, encouraging and supporting their own choices and focusing on making this the most peaceful and joyous experience possible. When she is not offering support to women through doula work she runs her organic bakery located in Murray Hill, Community Loaves.

I’m Mary. I’m a wife. A mom. A pediatric occupational therapist. A photographer. My daughter is my beautiful little muse. She’s the inspiration behind my journey in photography. The journey that started in 8.08 the month she was born. Becoming a mom has brought so many beautiful, funny, messy, and fleeting moments. Photography has become my way of capturing and holding onto those gorgeous moments. My little girl is 6 now (and a big sister to a fabulous 4 year old brother). I’ve learned so much about the art of photography thanks to these two. It’s been amazing to be able to capture so many of their sweet moments that my mommy brain would have likely forgotten by now. What beautiful, funny, messy, and fleeting moments can I capture for you?
